Dog Days of recession

We are in the "Dog Days" now – not the dog days of "summer is like the expression of the rule, but the dog days of recession. The recession is moving inexorably in our minds, even if the relations fleeting promises to bring economic renewal. Fears of a "dip" recession double to effectively deal with any claim in bold that the worst is over.

Most of us manage trudges on regardless. We have jobs, we still have our homes, we still have our retirement accounts and we can gowhere we go. This security is not available for a growing number of people, though. It 'time – the highest in terms of time! – For the more luck with us for more awareness of the people need?

You can answer that no one forgets. One can say that the pig who built on a stone: "The misfortune is their fault." But this time a stone fell.

When Congress adjourned for a week without break extensionUnemployment is the question of how deep the need to deepen these dispossessed of work and life is still safe. Of course, everyone knows lawmakers will pass the measure if he returns, and politically against the negative votes cast in the belief that the measure fails.

You'll be fine! – Or is who bears the additional discomfort felt by the unemployed and now virtually penniless? Its only paincomes to a head during the legislative break.

Most states do not have the resources to create a flood of new applicants for aid welfare rolls, in particular candidate without children. Yet the demand urgent constantly. "For Sale" signs dot neighborhood lawns as litter unwelcome. A woman is to 'exit Wal-Mart parking lot, holding a sign "Family emergency in front of her and desperate for hope from one side to pay attention and stop anyone. Somehow you just know this is not a scam, not this time.

Unemployment benefits, even if prolonged, will not last forever. Although the Council welcomed the fiscal conservatives, our only solution is now economic programs. Our future depends on improving – not exclusively – public education, clean – clean – energy, productive and has good – not chronically unemployed – Citizenship. A new economy is now our only way for the immediate recovery and long-term prosperity.

Otherwise, the economic constraintsenough, the moral imperative in this economic crisis, as in the Gulf of Mexico environmental crisis that we care for those injured in the first and worry about balancing the budget later. Cost reduction may not bring relief to those suddenly without a job as you could cover the increasing cost of care and Wildlife Coastal Cleanup and restoration.

The economy certainly is our tax base in the longer term, but this must be flexible enough to meet critical needswhen they occur. No-economic and environmental needs of strikes at the heart of our moral conscience as a nation address. You can not excuse the lack of measures promoted by a decade of wasteful spending by those who would not favor moderation.

Now is the time to act and we must act to support the best job opportunities, better education, environmental restoration and clean energy, if we preserve our integrity as a nation.

Onlythen the final dog days.
